Description

Succulent prawns sizzled in golden garlic butter with a squeeze of lemon — a classic that's ready in under 10 minutes and absolutely irresistible.

Instructions

  1. Prep the prawns: If using raw prawns, peel and devein, leaving the tails on for presentation. Pat thoroughly dry — moisture is the enemy of a good sear.
  2. Make the garlic butter: Melt the butter in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add the finely sliced or minced garlic and cook for 1–2 minutes until golden and fragrant. Do not let it burn.
  3. Cook the prawns: Increase the heat to high. Add the prawns in a single layer (work in batches if needed). Cook for 1–2 minutes per side until pink and opaque. They cook very quickly — overcooking makes them rubbery.
  4. Finish: Squeeze over the lemon juice and add a little lemon zest. Swirl the pan to combine everything into a glossy sauce. Season with salt and black pepper.
  5. Serve immediately with crusty bread to mop up the garlic butter, or over rice or pasta.

Tips

  • A pinch of chilli flakes adds a lovely kick.
  • Add fresh parsley at the very end for a burst of freshness.
